
The 1960 - 1961 English Division 1 League was won by Tottenham Hotspur. Tottenham managed a clear 8 points distance from their closest competition, Sheffield Wednesday, to left the 1961 football league trophy. Tottenham performed the double this season winning the 1961 English FA cup. The teams relegated in the 1961 football League table was Preston North End and Newcastle United.
The 1961 – 1962 league division 1 was won by Ipswich Town. Chelsea only achieved a dismal 28 points sending them down to the 1962-63 division 2 league. Cardiff City was also relegated this season from being one single point less that the season rivals, Fulham in the 1962 league table.
The 1962 – 1963 division 1 season saw Everton crowned league champions. The unfortunate teams in the 1963 division 1 league to be relegated were Manchester City and Leyton Orient.
Liverpool FC took the 1963 - 1964 League division 1 title, who were managed at the time by the famous Bill Shankley. Ipswich Town finished last in the 1964 league table with Bolton Wanderers also facing relegation.
The 1964 – 1965 League season was a close competition between Manchester United and Leeds United. Leeds managed to level on points with the Manchester team, but Manchester United ended up lifting the trophy on goal difference. Wolves and Birmingham City finished last in the 1965 league table to face the dreaded relegation.
Liverpool took the top place of the 1966 division 1 title ending up 6 points clear from the competition of Leeds United and Burnley. Northampton and Blackburn Rovers suffered relation in 1966 league table.
The 1966 – 1967 league division 1 season, Manchester United managed a 4-point lead at the top of the 1967 table to be crowned league champions. Blackburn Rovers only managed to obtain a dismal 21 points in the 1967 table facing relegation along with Aston Villa.
This 1967 - 1968 season saw a mighty battle between the two Manchester clubs, City and United. Manchester city clinched the title by only two points above the local rivals. Sheffield United and Fulham finished last in the 1968 table to face the battle of division 2 in the forth coming season.
The 1968 – 1969 league division 1 season was won by Leeds United with Liverpool FC finishing second in the table. Coventry City battled with Leicester City to avoid the dreaded relegation into division 2, with Queens Park Rangers also facing the relegation fall, finishing last in the 1969 league table.
Harry Catterick managed a second success for Everton this century to lift the 1969 division 1 title. This was sadly his last season managing the blues with many of the supporters of the Merseyside club believing this team was the best that has ever played on grass for the club crest. Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday faced relegation in the 1969 league table with Crystal Palace scraping through to stay up for the next 1970 – 1971 division 1 season.
